The Ghost Game: Winternacht
The days are growing shorter, All Hallows Eve approaches, and the Cabiri are venturing out into a blizzard in preparation for their fifth-annual Ghost Game production Winternacht on October 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 and 31 in the intimate Theater at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle.
The eleven fearless acrobats, aerialists and dancers of their Cabiri performance troupe will step into a frozen wasteland in Winternacht, a collection of seven ancient tales from across the continents. In this year's evening-length dessert theater production, snow witches lurk in the darkness and frozen branches wait to ensnare innocent maidens. Last year's Ghost Game was described by the Seattle Times as having a "visceral, enchanting power" presented by the "talented collaborators" of the Cabiri troupe.
Dancers in Winternacht will include new company members Danny Boulet (Coriolis Dance Collective), Courtney Dressner (formerly of Ballet Bellevue, Ballet San Antonio) and Heather Eichhorst (formerly of ARC Dance, Louisville Ballet). Emcees for Winternacht are Vashon-based physical theater artist Steffon Moody (October 21, 28, 29) and comedian Eric Haines (October 22, 23, 30 and 31).
There will be no advance sales for the October 23 6:00 pm pay-what-you-can performance. Sales at the door only, no dessert service. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Suggested donation $10-$25 per person.
The October 31st show is audience storyteller night, where 7 lucky guests will come onstage to read stories before they are performed. There will also be a costume contest on Halloween night - dress to impress!
Guests at Winternacht must be 14 or older, due to mature content.
