The Faerie Play is a show for children (5 to 10) and their families, set on an organic farm. Here a mischievous resident fairy steals a child who is a member of the local theatre school. This little girl must be found by the rest of the cast (and the audience) before she disappears forever into the fairy world. By joining in and following the trail of the fairies and some of the other residents of the Sharing Farm, the audience will help to solve the mystery of the lost child.
Meet the raptors, voles, daisies and potatoes that live on the Sharing Farm through Frank Rader and Iona Dan and Joseph Paul's wonderful puppets. And after solving the mystery at the sunflower circle, join us after the show in the Farm's healing circle for tea. There will also be light snacks available from the Farm's cob oven in between the performances.
This production brings together again the team who brought you the hit show Salmon Row at the Britannia Shipyards in 2011 and 2013. Using puppets, stilts, music and actors, this play, like Salmon Row, takes the audience through the site to share the secrets of the land and its residents. Also included in the production are members of the Richmond Gateway Academy and children from the Richmond area.
The Faerie Play has been written and devised specifically for the Sharing Farm, an urban farm that grows organic vegetables and donates them to the food bank. By the audience participating in the journey to solve the mystery of the lost child, we are all introduced to the many lives on any farm, hidden and not, that contribute to growing the food that we all depend on.
