PASSION: Bach's St. John Passion
Bach's setting of the Passion according to St. John the Evangelist for choir, soloists and orchestra, is one of the pillars of western choral music. Written in 1724 during his first year in Leipzig, and revised numerous times throughout his lifetime, the St. John Passion is one of his most expressive and impassioned works, filled with dramatic choruses and breath-taking arias.
