The tradition of the COMMUNITY SHOW-OFF in Seattle's International District started in 1981. Northwest Asian American Theatre (NWAAT) is bringing back this variety show to showcase the many talented Asian American musicians, dancers, singers and poets in our community. This year's SHOW-OFF includes local artists who contribute to the community through their art and use their talent to educate us all. The SHOW-OFF is proud to present the following performers:
* ISANGMAHAL, resident poetry collective
* VEIL, a poetry and movement group that focuses on
women's domestic violence
* YOUTH SPEAKS, 15- to 17-year-old poets from various
Seattle high schools
* ARNALDO, Seattle drag chanteuse
* NORTHWEST TAIKO, drum ensemble
* ANGELO PIZZARO, guitarist
* TIM CORDOVA, writer, composer, and director with
excerpts from Sining Kilusan's musical HEART OF THE SUN
* BENGIE SANTOS, choreographer and dancer with a
performance of ALL ONE TRIBE
* ONE DAY LATER, Asian American rock band featuring
drummer Tony Tsuei, guitarist/singer Toggs Chung, and
bassist/singer Caleb Cha
The original UNCLE BOB SANTOS will keep the show moving as emcee. The evening will also feature an Asian food bazaar, community information tables, and fun for the
entire family.
