June 30, 2015 at 7 PM - Union Square Theatre, NYC
Dance for Nepal is an exclusive, one-night event conceived by Simona Ferrara and led by Artistic Director Lloyd Knight to raise funds for those in need, inviting the New York dance community and other local area artists to participate in their efforts. On April 25, 2015, the country of Nepal suffered unthinkable damage from an earthquake measuring 7.8. As of today, officially, 8,413 people have lost their lives in this tragedy, thousands others have been injured, and the search and recovery efforts continue. Thousands of others are left homeless and without food, shelter, and other basic necessities. Cultural and historical landmarks, which have long been a symbol of the Nepalese people have been destroyed. The human cost to the survivors and their nation cannot be ignored.
This dance event will benefit the DRI Foundation's Nepal Relief Fund, part of their Donations after Disasters program. Let's come together and support the people of Nepal to build back better. Every penny will go directly to relief and recovery efforts. By combining our donations, the DRI Foundation and its donors will send a message of support, help, and hope to those in need.
