Skidmore Entertainment Company presents: Dead Prez & Dan Deacon
Dead Prez is a hip hop duo from the United States, composed of stic.man and M-1, formed in 1996 in New York City, New York. They are known for their confrontational style, combined with socialist lyrics focused on both militant social justice and Pan-Africanism. The duo maintains an ethical stance against corporate control over the media, especially hip hop record labels.
Dan Deacon is an American electronic musician based out of Baltimore, Maryland. He first gained major attention when "Drinking Out of Cups", a three-minute track of him speaking nonsense from his 2003 album Meetle Mice, was accompanied into a video with animation created by musician Liam Lynch. The video was posted on YouTube in 2006 and has nearly 13 million views.
Since 2003, Deacon has released eight albums under several different labels. From his 2007 album Spiderman of the Rings, "The Crystal Cat" was listed #84 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007,[2] and "Wham City" was #30 on Pitchfork's "Top 100 Tracks of 2007". Deacon also has a renowned reputation for his live shows, where he commands many of his audience members to perform obstacles during performance.
