Tour New London's lighthouses as the sun sets. Take our lighthouse tour after dinner downtown for a truly memorable evening.
There is every variety of lighthouse within easy reach of New London harbor. New London Maritime Society owns three of them, and each summer provides a variety of lighthouse boat tours from mid-June through October. We use local captains and boats carrying just six passengers. Tours are given by local lighthouse & history lovers.
View the three picturesque lighthouses of New London Harbor: New London Harbor 'Pequot' Light, a classic octagonal structure that is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Long Island Sound; 1909 brick New London Ledge Light, reputed home to Ernie the ghost; and Avery Point Light, built in 1943 by the USCG, the newest lighthouse in Connecticut.
The boat takes six passengers, only. Donations support lighthouse restoration: Adults: $40.00 Kids ages 6-12: $25.00

In 2014, NLMS received the title 'Best Lighthouse Tour' from Yankee Magazine for our 55-minute tour of the three harbor lights. Also available is a 2 1/2-hour boat trip to visit Ledge Light and our weekend lighthouse trips at 11, 12, and 1 on Saturdays and Sundays. See the museum website for the complete tour schedule.
Note: - Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with a closed heal or back strap to keep the shoes on the feet. Flip-flops are not allowed due to safety concerns. The boat and the docking facilities do not meet ADA regulations.
For the Sunset Tours, check in at the Custom House Pier on New London's Waterfront Park ten minutes before departure. The Custom House Pier located on the waterfront right behind the Custom House (but you have to drive on Water Street and cross the tracks to get there). Parking is available on the pier, on the street and in the municipal New London parking lot, one block away.
Your boat-tour ticket also includes admission to the Custom House Maritime Museum (a $7 value).
When making your reservations, please leave contact information for the day of your trip. We may need to contact you if there is a change due to weather conditions.
Lighthouse tours usually only go forward if there are at least four passengers. Flexibility about departure times is appreciated, as we sometimes need to consolidate trips to make sure everyone gets the most out of their lighthouse experience. If your departure time needs to be changed for any reason, we will contact you.
Ticketing fees applied to all reservations.
Tickets are non-refundable unless there is a weather cancellation. Day-of ticket sales can be made by calling 860-447-8700.
Please call 860-447-8700 for more information.
New London Harbor 'Pequot' Light is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Long Island Sound. According to the US Coast Guard, from the lantern of Harbor Light, one can see more lighthouse than from any other spot on earth! The 1801 lighthouse was conveyed to the New London Maritime Society by the federal government in 2010. NLMS completed Phase I restoration of the lighthouse in 2014. Still an active aid to navigation, the lighthouse represented Connecticut on a 2013 US Postage stamp.
