It's 'Coast Guard Summer' in Connecticut and to celebrate we're giving 1 1/2-hour boat tours of USCG sites located in and around New London harbor, narrated by former Coasties. Tours leave every Saturday afternoon at 3 PM: sign in at 2:45 at the Custom House Maritime Museum; the boat leaves from the Custom House Pier at 3 o' clock. We use local captains and boats carrying just six passengers.
Take a memorable 90-minute ride to view USCG sites in New London. Sites include the USCG Academy, future site of the USCG National Museum, USCG Sector Long Island Sound - Station New London, Fort Trumbull: location of the 1914 Revenue Cutter Academy - and with the 1915 merger of the Revenue Cutter Service and the Life Saving Service - it became the Coast Guard Academy, three lighthouses, and more.
For other boat tour dates in 2015 - search: "New London Lighthouses." Custom tours can be added; call 860-447-8700 and leave contact information & date/time request.
In 2014, NLMS received the title 'Best Lighthouse Tour' from Yankee Magazine for our 55-minute tour of the three harbor lights. Also available is a 2 1/2-hour boat trip to visit Ledge Light, sunset and moonlight tours of the lighthouses. See the museum website for the complete tour schedule.
Note: - Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes with a closed heal or back strap to keep the shoes on the feet. Flip-flops are not allowed due to safety concerns. The boat and the docking facilities do not meet ADA regulations.
Check in at the Custom House Maritime Museum fifteen minutes before departure. Your boat leaves from the Custom House Pier located one block away. Two-hour parking is available on the street and in the municipal New London parking lot, one block away.
Your boat-tour ticket also includes admission to the Custom House Maritime Museum (a $7 value).
When making your reservations, please leave contact information for the day of your trip. We may need to contact you if there is a change due to weather conditions. Ticketing fees applied to all reservations.

Welcome to Connecticut's Coast Guard Summer!
Governor Dannel P. Malloy has officially designated the summer of 2015 as "Connecticut's Coast Guard Summer" in celebration of the 225th anniversary of the founding of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and the USCG Academy's 100 years at its current location in New London. As part of Connecticut's Coast Guard Summer, which will run from June through September, 2015, several major event organizers in New London will choose themes to commemorate USCG for its service to the region and nation.
"The longtime presence of the U.S. Coast Guard in New London not only represents our state's rich maritime heritage but has also led to a strong partnership with the state that has driven economic development, tourism and industry for the region," said Governor Malloy. "We are proud that the academy and our newest national landmark the National Coast Guard Museum call Connecticut home and chose the summer of 2015 to celebrate that partnership while honoring the important role the men and women of the Coast Guard have played throughout our country's history."
