Nice Is Not What We Do (tales of death and family)
Step right up for dueling eulogies! Members of a far-flung family swoop into town for their father's funeral, and Kathleen's sister tells her, "Say something nice!" But Kathleen has a problem. She was Dad's sparring partner, and Dad charmed the rest of the world far better than his own family. Who will get the last word? Aside from Dad, who already made it perfectly clear that he would rather be sailing.
Written and performed by Kathleen Denny, directed by Mark Kenward.
Kathleen Denny (playwright and performer) was working as a union machinist and aircraft mechanic when she first discovered solo performance at The Marsh in San Francisco. She developed "Nice Is Not What We Do (tales of death and family)" in workshops with David Ford and Ann Randolph. She performs in the Monday Night Marsh series and in other Bay area venues. She has performed her tales of death and family at the Rogue Festival in Fresno, the 2014 Boulder International Fringe and the 2015 Winnipeg Fringe. This is her very first time at the San Francisco Fringe.
