Ear Heart Music Presents: Robert Stillman - Machine's Song
Robert Stillman composes music for simultaneous, multi-instrumental performance using piano and percussion modified for the feet. Expanding this one-man-band set-up to include a small ensemble of brass and percussion, the repertoire in this program reflects Stillman's interest in juxtaposing the archaic with the futuristic, and the mechanical with the human, drawing influences from early American popular song and folk musics, as well as composers such as Ellington, Weill, and Satie. This program features Stillman's requiem for John Fahey, 'Station Wagon Interior Perspective ', as well as a premiers of two new works for performance with film: 'New Culmination' and 'Player Piano'. www.robertstillman.com
This Performance is Presented as Part of Ear Music: Contemporary Classical Music @ The Tank.

About Ear Music Ear Music, curated by Amelia Lukas, is where New Yorkers can get their aural fix. Featuring some of New York's most cutting edge performers, composers and programming, this is a modern chamber music series presented to an intimate crowd. We believe that audiences want to be engaged not simply entertained by the music they go out to hear. We nurture our listeners by presenting repertoire that is challenging yet relevant, and by providing context for our work. Shows often incorporate multi-media elements such as electronic processing, performance art, film and dance. bit.ly/earheart
