University High School's "Into The Woods"
"Into The Woods" is Stephen Sondheim's enchanting musical tale of a baker and his wife trying to lift a curse which has kept them childless, as it romps through the Brothers Grimm's collection of classic fairy tales. You'll meet characters from "Little Red Riding Hood," "Cinderella," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Rapunzel" and more along the way.
The show debuted at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre in 1986 and was a Broadway hit less than a year later, starring Bernadette Peters as The Witch. Winner of Tony Awards for Best Score, Best Book and Best Actress (for Joanna Gleason as The Baker's Wife), it became a major motion-picture smash in 2014 with Meryl Streep starring as The Witch.
Produced by University High School's Director of Theater Arts Ronnie Sperling, the 105-minute show (including one, 15-minute intermission) has a cast of 23, including (alphabetically):
Lizbeth Arellano as a Villager Sarai Benitez as Little Red Riding Hood Cassandra Bridges as Jack's Mother Rashley Castillo as Rapunzel's Prince and Cinderella's Father Flavio Cesar Robles as the Steward Maria Chigo as Cinderella's Mother Veraliz Cornet as Granny Wyatt Daily as Cinderella's Stepmother Katherin Flores as the Witch Claire Hafteck as Cinderella Cynthia Jacinto as a Villager Ayanna Jimenez as Florinda Jesus Lopez as the Narrator Ryan McNeil as the Baker Gesselye Mejia as Milky White Lauren Meltzer as Rapunzel Maria Nicolas as a Villager Billy Ortiz as Cinderella's Prince and the Wolf Althea Roble as the Mysterious Person Dorthy Schmidt as Lucinda Alex Strong as the Baker's Wife Margarita Ylo as Jack Vindia Zuniga as a Villager
