Ana Montes presents Flamenco Danzarte in an Evening of Flamenco Dance and Jaleo
THERE ARE STILL TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR FOR SUNDAY NIGHT'S SHOW!!!! AND YOU CAN BUY TICKETS HERE FOR SUNDAY UNTIL NOON.
Internationally known flamenco dancer ANA MONTES dances and plays percussion WITH HER STUDENTS (including her 5 and 6 year olds!) in this evening of flamenco. There are some very traditional numbers, some very theatrical numbers ........including an African/Flamenco fusion dance and percussion number with special guest artist, West African dancer and djembe drum player, ETIENNE CAKPO!!
Ana Montes performed for 7 years with flamenco troupes in Spain and Europe and Mexico, based out of Madrid. She is known for her charismatic and powerful stage presence, her fierce footwork and incredible rhythm....and her graceful and beautiful upper body lines, arms and hands (the essence of the female flamenco dancer).
Ana studied flamenco in the famous dance studio Amor de Dios in Madrid. Her teachers include El Ciro, La Tati, El Guito, Merche Esmeralda, Timo Lozano, Carmela Greco, Pedro Azorin, and others.
Also in the show... an interlude of Merengue, Salsa and Bachata dancing with "La Monica" and guest artist George Dunn.
And.... a surprise guest appearance of the "Black Swan" in one of the numbers.... just for fun!!!!
Two evenings of fun, rhythm and excitement. YOU get to yell "olé" and "toma!" from your seat as an audience member!
There is a lot of construction going on in the streets around the theater, and I thought we would be able to use the big parking lot next to the theater, but there is a sign saying you need a UW permit to park in there at all times on all days, including Saturdays and Sundays, and you have to pay at the pay station at 15th and 40th.... so it might be best NOT to park in there or you might be ticketed. There is street parking, and a small parking lot just a block away, at the corner of 41st and University Way, across from Cafe Solstice and the Wells Fargo Bank, which is only $5 for the evenings so I'm telling people to park in there or on the street.
Door opens 40 minutes before the show begins each night...
Note: this show is not really that kid friendly for very small children.... It will be pretty long (each half is about 1 hour long and there is a 20 min. intermission in-between). Even though I have a couple of 5-yr. olds and a 9 year old in the show, their appearances are brief. Many of the numbers need silence so we really can't have kids who will be running around or fidgeting or making noise.... but if they can hold up for the almost 2-1/2 hours then great!!! And thank you for understanding.
When you buy a ticket online you can donate to a cause and I have chosen ROOTS, which is a shelter for homeless young people just a couple of blocks from the theater. Just click "Children and Human Rights" when getting your ticket...
