Cliff Mass at the Greater Hansville Community Center
Cliff Mass is coming to the Greater Hansville Community Center.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 7 at 7 PM.
GHCC is coordinating with Greg Johnson of Skunk Bay Weather to bring you a special opportunity to hear Cliff Mass, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington. Cliff is a well known and highly regarded weather expert. He is a weekly weather commentator on KPLU. "The Weather of the Pacific Northwest" published by the University of Washington Press and dozens of articles on Northwest Weather have been authored by Cliff. He leads the regional development of advanced weather prediction tools.
Topic: "Cliff Notes: The Future of Northwest Weather"
Will Northwest weather become more extreme with global warming? How do CO2 and other greenhouse gases influence the climate? What is the nature of climate change and how are humans contributing to it. He'll discuss the technology of predicting the future, particularly over our region, pointing out strengths and weaknesses of the current science. Cliff will talk about the miscommunication on both sides of the issue and why that is counterproductive. He'll talk about our best estimates of what will happen in the region and how the Northwest can prepare for climate change. There will be Q & A with the audience following Cliff's presentation.
Keep up with Cliff Mass. Tune into KPLU at FM 88.5 at 9 AM Friday mornings.Visit Cliff's blog(Cliffmass.blogspot.com) or click from Greg Johnson's Skunk Bay Weather site Skunkbayweather.com).
