2011 Martin Luther King County Executive's Awards for Excellence in Hip Hop
MUSICA Entertainment is proud to present the 2011 Martin Luther King County Executive's Awards for Excellence in Hip Hop.
Monday January 17th 2011 will be our 7th year of celebrating Hip Hop and its impact on music, diversity, lifestyle, and culture worldwide. This event honors the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hip Hop & Arts in general are still a voice for social change.
Through Hip Hop and the Arts, we seek to honor the legacy of Dr. King by showcasing artists' voices and talent.
Featuring: The King County Executives Awards For Excellence in Hip Hop presented by King County Executive Dow Constantine. Honoring the spirit and legacy of Dr. King, the award acknowledges and honors innovative performance, community service and entrepreneurial achievement by locally based members of the hip-hop community whose work has had significant impact in King County.
This year's event also includes a special tribute to the late Roberto Maestas.
Musical guests include a line-up of King County's outstanding vocalists: Mycle Wastman, Josie Howell, Lady "A", and Dionna Long. Performances also include Hip Hop artist "Tendai & Young Fast" from Seattle, along with Tacoma Rap group "Young n' Brave", who recently performed on BET's 106 & Park. Everett based jazz ensemble "New Shades of Grey", Gospel rap artist OnlyOneWizer and Sheela Moss also perform.
Speakers Include: Pastor Paul A. Stoops Sr., Former Washington State Legislator Dawn Mason, Activist Eddie Rye Jr., and Senait Brown of the Poverty Action Network and Jeff Williams
Entrance to the festivities at the Columbia City Theatre is $15.00 in advance general admission, $20.00 at the door and $30.00 VIP reserved seating. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show runs from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
Space is limited. General admission is $15 in advance, $20.00 at the door, VIP private table seating is $30.00 per person.

An independent panel reviewed nominations and recommended Hip Hop Award recipients. Previous award recipients include: DeVon Manier, Keith Tucker and The EriAM Sisters (2010), Chani and Silver Shadow D (2009), Wyking Allah and Toddler Hip Hop (2008), Gordon Curvey, DJ Supreme and King Khazm (2006), Sir Mix-A-Lot, Industry Pioneer; Melissa Noelle Green, Spoken Word; The Volunteer Staff of KMIH-FM X-104,Broadcast Innovation; (2005) Georgio Brown and The Coolout Network; (2004) Jonathan Moore, co-founder and chief executive of Jasiri Media Group; and (2003) Shon Peterson, Mr. Dog (2002).
