Iffin' you wanna see Chablis, you gottta buy a ticket for the show on May7th - $25, no joke. It'll be worth it!!
Rude Mechs, in association with Center Theatre Group, is proud to present the world premiere of I've Never Been So Happy, with music and lyrics by Austin Experimental Punk Grand Wizard Peter Stopschinski (Brown Whornet, Golden Hornet Project), and book and lyrics by Austin Experimental Theatre Mascot Kirk Lynn, fluxuates freely between high art and Hee-Haw, treating both with respect. The music pits "Grand Ole Opry" against an "El Topo" style West. The writing butts lyric poetry up against bar jokes with finesse. The evening challenges what it means to "go to the theater" in 2011.
Reviews of past workshop productions: "The Rudes continue to deepen their creative process and challenge themselves in new ways. And that results in smart, terrific theater that takes us some place new." - Jeanne Claire van Ryzin, Austin-American Statesman review of December 2008 workshop production.
"BEST INVESTIGATION OF THE WEST: The Rude Mechs' funny, well-informed multimedia performance was a refreshingly queer interrogation of the West. Moreover, I've Never Been So Happy felt like a Brechtian extravaganza for art and theater geeks, evoking everything from WOW Café camp to Bruce Nauman's post-minimal studio practice to Kara Walker's silhouettes and shadow puppets." - Claire Ruud, ...might be good (Fluent-Collaborative's contemporary arts e-journal Best of 2008) Citations:

Question: |
Howdy,
I will be back in Tejas for the delights of the Fusebox Festival, and I'm looking forward to delighting in I've Never Been So Happy. But I got one of those Fusebox pass things. How do I use it to make a reservation? I'd like to see the show on Saturday the 23rd.
Gracias,
Carra Martinez |

Question: |
Hey Shawn!
I want to make a reservation for Sunday, but when I try to at Brown Paper Tickets, it says that I'll pay what I want at the door. How can I make a reservation for two for this Sunday? --Lana Dieterich |
Answer: |
Hi Lana! I think there are 2 issues. One is it's pay-what-you-can that night so everyone's tickets are 'will pay'. Then there's the fact that I think we only had room for one ticket for you. You are reserved for one, so it seems the system must have locked out your 2nd ticket. I'll make a reservation for your 2nd ticket myself. Assuming we have at least one no-show that night. Sorry for troubles! |
