Street Smarts: The Story of a Trueschool B-Girl, a one woman show by Laura "Piece" Kelley Jahn
On Saturday, April 28th, 2007 Grand Slam Champion and Russell Simmonsâ HBO Def Poetry artist, âPieceâ brings Street Smartz to the stage at Rainier Valley Cultural Center for a Play Production / CD Pre-Release Party duo. This one woman show will run for two weeks with performances on Saturdays: April 28 and May 5 at 7:30 PM and Wednesdays: May 2 & 9 at 11:00 AM. Laura Piece Kelley Jahn, seeker of truth, keeper of peace and student of the street; performs her life work and calls for one people from her stage of life. As a poet, actor, and flow specialist, âPieceâ takes you running through her hood on a quest for urban enlightenment. Each act is poetically performed and each song is a northwest coast hip hop original. Her message unshackles our minds out of the mainstream ghetto, as she unites the power of the pen with the power of one in this theatrical breakthrough. Her lyrics are freshly woven into northwest coast beats, composed and produced from this Seattle native of the grid-block. A limited number of Street Smarts the CD recording set for official release this summer, will be available to the public at these performances only.
Street Smartz is Directed by Rebecca Shepherd, co-produced by Heidi Jackson Presents and Piece Productions and sponsored by BROWNBOX and One People, Inc.
