ABOUT THE ARTIST...
Gentle Thunder lives in Mount Shasta, California, yet enchants audiences worldwide with her distinctive sound and heart filled presence.
Gentle Thunder is a GRAMMY award nominated multi-instrumentalist, musical intuitive and sound healer. Her original music on exquisite grand hammer dulcimer and a vast array of handcrafted Native American flutes creates an uplifting, relaxing and inspiring environment. As an added treat, Atlanta musician Richard Burdick will make a cameo appearance on piano during the evening.
Gentle Thunder's musical journey began as a rock-n-roll drummer at the age of fourteen. While recording as a drummer in Memphis, TN, she became captivated by the hammer dulcimer. In 1998, she branched out as a solo artist and released her first hammer dulcimer album and then, in 2004, her first solo Native American flute album.
Known for her heartfelt signature sound, recognizable when heard, Gentle Thunder's flute playing has been compared to world-renown Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai who is also distinct in his sound. She says she allows herself "to be played as an instrument through which Great Spirit speaks."
Her 3rd CD release, Beyond Words with Will Clipman & AmoChip Dabney, was GRAMMY nominated Best New Age Album alongside Enya, Peter Kater, Andreas Vollenweider and Enigma. Gentle Thunder has recorded and produced 6 albums to date. Over the past thirty years of touring and getting airplay, Gentle Thunder has obtained an international audience with her diverse musical talents and authentic presence. She has offered her musical flute prayers for Amma during Darshan, the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, and Dr. Masuru Emoto in ceremony.
The Spring Celebration Concert on April 11th will be her first and only concert in the Atlanta area during this tour and promises to be an unforgettable evening.
"I love helping people come home to themselves and remember their true essence through the music I play," says Gentle Thunder. "It is my greatest joy to be of service in this way."
Eric Alan, Music Director at Jefferson Public Radio, calls the experience of Gentle Thunder "a glorious musical journey that's a sharing of deep spirit more than a mere performance." And Bette Timm from Aura Magazine describes it as "music that calls you back home to your heart . . . unique and inspiring."
Gentle Thunder's current focus is working as a musical intuitive with groups and individuals, offering vibrational alignment / sound healing sessions, flute lessons, and occasional concerts. She is available for sessions while in the Atlanta area through April. Information and bookings: (530) 925-4495 / GT@GentleThunder.com and visit GentleThunder.com
