CFF: MORON MOVIES Retrospective
2015 Cinedelphia Film Festival presents
Friday, April 24, 2015, 7:30 PM MORON MOVIES Retrospective Creator Len Cella in attendance! Hosted by Everything Is Terrible!'s Dimitri Simakis
Subversive, hilarious, nonsensical...these are all words that can be applied to Len Cella's never-ending series of short films, Moron Movies. Always a minute or less in length with titles that include "How to Know If You're a Nerd" and "Jello Makes a Lousy Doorstop", Cella's one-man 8mm masterpieces were favorites of Johnny Carson and are just as addictive and unpredictable as they were 30 years ago. Join us as Len Cella joins Everything Is Terrible!'s Dimitri Simakis for a live history of Moron Movies.
Broomall, PA's Len Cella was a 46-year-old frustrated novelist working in the advertising field when he found his calling as the filmmaker behind Moron Movies. Cella began screening his shorts at the Lansdowne Theater in 1983 where they gained a cult following and the attention of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson where they were a regular feature from 1983 to 1985. This run was followed by two year's worth of spots on Dick Clark's TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes under the title Len Cella's Silly Cinema (a title that he didn't like).
