PABLO MAYOR & Folklore Urbano
Hailed by critics for his unique blend of Jazz and traditional Colombian musical styles, Pablo Mayor has been a mainstay in the New York music scene since 1999 as the leader of his own musical projects. His Folklore Urbano ensemble has produced three CDs and has performed extensively nationally and internationally. Mr. Mayor is also a driving force in the promotion of Colombian culture in New York. Since 2003 he has been organizing Encounter of Colombian Musicians, a yearly gathering of musicians from all over the world who meet in New York to celebrate Colombian culture and new directions in Colombian music with concerts and diverse inter-cultural programs. Folklore Urbano is an all-star ensemble featuring some of the most in-demand musicians from the New York music scene who perform compositions and arrangements written by Mr. Mayor. For this Boston premiere, Mr. Mayor will feature some of the most representative work from the vast Folklore Urbano repertoire. In addition, he will offer a free matinee performance for children from South End schools on Friday March 4 at 10:30 am.
