Event
incarnation
"Incarnation" is a word that most often gets thrown around during the season of Advent. We sing songs like 'Hark the Herald, Angels Sing!' with the line "Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see; Hail the incarnate Deity." Wait! What does that actually mean? The more we think about "incarnation," the more we realize that it is a packed word that is impossible to fully understand. As we ponder the meaning, emotions such as wonder, mystery and awe are evoked.
Our goal for this evening is to explore the incarnation using art (primarily music and poetry) in dialogue with scripture. Though we cannot (and don't intend to) explicitly answer every question and take away the mystery surrounding the incarnation, our hope is to point to the one answer we know: Jesus Christ, "the incarnate Deity" who was and is fully God and fully man.
Details: This is a joint performance from First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue and University Presbyterian Church. We will have a full band complete with strings and brass, using musicians from both churches. Poetry and scripture will be read throughout the evening, highlighting aspects of the incarnation.
All of the money from ticket sales will be donated and split between two charities: FPCB's "Jubilee Reach Center" and UPC's "Haiti School Building Project."
