what I'm saying is born from the weather
what I'm saying is born from the weather is an evening-length performance conceived and directed by choreographer Rebecca Davis with live sound by composer Matt Marble. It casts a large, all-female ensemble into a charged atmosphere of forecast, totem, token and ritual in which physical and metaphorical weather arises, shifts, and passes.
The work grew out of close observation of the New York Times Weather Report, which Davis has meticulously collected since 2006, tracking the cosmos, clouds, tides, and temperature as a basis for movement exploration, drawings, and text for the performers.
Developed with and performed by: Jodi Bender, Abby Block, Heidi Brewer, Erin Cairns, Agustina Camara, Erika Hansen, Lindsey Kelley, Stephanie Lazzara, and Gretchen Weber
Live music by Matt Marble with Jim Altieri, M.R. Daniel, Tucker Dulin, Bob Jones, Ben Owen, & Alex Waterman
