Babes With Blades presents: Swords for Rusty Broads (and Gents!)
Saturday October 23, 2010 - Multiple Weapons, with NEIL MASSEY: Please note: The combat day is full - we don't need as much space for the text work, so that day still has some spots open. Feel free to register for the 24th!
Neil is a Certified Teacher with the SAFD. He currently teaches stage combat at Roosevelt University and owns Rogue Steel. The workshop will explore the similarities and differences between single rapier, single dagger, and rapier & dagger, pushing participants' skill levels within each form.
Sunday October 24, 2010 - Trippingly on the Tongue, with Kathrynne Wolf:
Kat will lead this workshop designed to help you tackle Shakespeare's texts with tools and tips culled from all over the globe, including John Barton of the RSC, and the "Folio" approach favoured by many of our top local Shakespeare theatre companies. We'll refresh the basics and work on practical application of the tips and options to your selected text, with possible scene work in the afternoon.
You are asked to come prepared with 8-18 lines of Shakespeare (preferably verse - should include two full acting beats or "gear shifts" - this is more important than the length). Memorization is encouraged, but not absolutely required.
Both days of the Workshop will be held from
10 am to 5 pm at
Chase Park: 4701 N. Ashland Ave.
To make a reservation for one or both days, or to ask questions, please call 773.904.0391 and leave your contact info so we can confirm with you!
$60 for 1 day, $100 for both.
OR - $50/$80 early bird pricing thru 10/10! So don't wait - call to make your reservation today!
Note: Participants must be 16 or over for the Stage Combat Workshop, and 15 or over for the Shakespeare Workshop. All participants under 18 MUST have a signed consent form from parent/guardian - no exceptions. Call 773.904.0391 to make arrangements/with questions.
