FULL LINE-UP OF ARTISTS AND SPEAKERS BELOW

Milk and Night Curatorial is pleased to announce a one day symposium and performance event in honor of Women's History Month. Pervasive Feminisms will take place on March 20th, 2015 at The Lutheran Church of the Messiah.

This happening marks a new experimental collaboration that speaks to traditional topics of 'No Wave' feminism and also introduces a discourse of the role of the empowered female form in a religious spatial context. Within that vein, Milk and Night (director Coco Dolle) has collaborated with The Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Greenpoint, Brooklyn to provide a venue that speaks to this theme. Invited guest curators Jasmine Wahi (curator The Gateway Project, director project for Empty Space) and Baxton Alexander (composer and cultural arts coordinator) have joined with Milk and Night to co-curate this event.

The Pervasive Feminisms program will commence with a scholastically oriented discussion panel. Following this discussion will be period of interactive performances and a cocktail reception for audience members to engage with a static visual arts exhibition in the church space, and to politic with the panelists and the evening's performers. The evening will continue and conclude with a vibrant line-up of performance art ranging from musical intervention to dance to experimental movement performances.
