Spirit of the Hill Dinner
The Spirit of the Hill Dinner, this year to be held at Osteria La Spiga, is the annual fund raising event for the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce. The CHCC is a committed to supporting an economic vital, livable community and promoting Capitol Hill as a unique urban neighborhood that is welcoming to everyone.
Our dinner this year will be held at Osteria La Spiga on Monday, October 4th, starting at 6pm.
In Italy, the osteria is an inviting neighborhood spot where locals savor fresh, seasonal food while enjoying the company of good friends.
Renowned for its Northern Italian cuisine, La Spiga is authentic enough in both food and ambiance to make you feel a wave of nostalgia, even if you've never been to Emilia-Romagna. Chef and co-owner Sabrina Tinsley crafts the Romagnola cuisine to make it genuine, yet hers alone. Using the very finest ingredients, menus are changed seasonally to reflect what is freshest in local markets. As co-owner and host Pietro Borghesi says, "An evening at La Spiga is like dining in Italy -- without the plane fare."
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Toy Boats, a Seattle-based quartet of toy- and small-instrument players. Wielding a unique repertoire that encompasses original compositions as well as compelling cinematic arrangements of traditional Eastern European and world folk music, the group focuses on creating a mesmerizing, delicate acoustic experience in unorthodox venues. The Toy Boats' four musicians represent a diverse range of performance experience, comprising experimental-music ensembles, jazz groups, radical marching bands, stripping bananas, professional choirs, concert piano and solo concertina performance, and old-time C&W bands.
There will be a silent auction that evening as well as the presentation of the Spirit of the Hill Award, presented annually to a community member who represents the best of Capitol Hill.
