Special Screening of Nowhere Boy followed by Concert by The Quarrymen
Before the Beatles came the band Quarrymen. The film Nowhere Boy is the story of John Lennon's teenage years in Liverpool and the evolution of the band he started. Playing with friends he had known for most of his life, John Lennon met Paul McCartney after the Quarrymen performed at a local church party in July 1957.
George Harrison later joined the band, the three followed their calling, and, of course, they made musical history. Nowhere Boy captures John Lennon's crucial formative years. For the first time on the big screen, it depicts the events and personal circumstances that led to the formation of the Beatles and the family undercurrents that shaped and molded his creative and inspirational qualities--qualities that had a revolutionary impact on the world during his brief 40 years of life, and that continue to have immense effect 30 years after his death.
Now, 50 years after the formation of the Beatles, the Quarrymen have re-formed to salute their friend John on his 70th birthday. The three still-active band members Colin Hanton, Rod Davis, and Len Garry, who all performed with John Lennon the day he met Paul McCartney will perform live onstage at the Rosendale Theatre along with a special sneak preview of the film in which they are portrayed. A truly historic night at the historic Rosendale Theatre.
General Tickets for the concert and the movie are $25. A special Gold Circle ticket is available for $45, this ticket includes a pre-event reception with the artists at 6:30pm taking place at the Redwing Blackbird Theater (across the street from The Rosendale Theater) as well as preferred seating for the concert and the movie.
