Echo: A Poetic Journey Into Justice
Echo: A Poetic Journey Into Justice, a poetic theater performance to bring awareness to the horrific circumstances surrounding sex trafficking/slavery, will hold performances on Saturday October 9, 2010, and Saturday October 16, 2010, 7pm, City Of Refuge United Church of Christ, 1025 Howard Street, San Francisco, Ca.
Echo braids together the fabric of poetry, African-American Spirituals and movement in an effort to shine a light upon the extraordinarily similar threads that run between present day sex trafficking and past day African-American slavery. The performance speaks of the journey toward freedom and restoration. Ultimately it is a tale of the necessity of love and compassionate care. Echo seeks to search out the lessons of the past, bring the lessons into the future, speak to the need of restoration, and tweak hearts into action.
A question and answer session will immediately follow both performances led by John and Serena O'Hara (The Renew Project, Oakland, Ca), Mike Masten (Project Exodus, Los Angeles, Ca), and Jill Ranes (Out Of Egypt, San Jose, Ca).
Not For Sale Campaign (San Francisco Ca ) will provide an information table in regard to their work on sex trafficking/slavery.
Echo: A Poetic Journey Into Justice is written and directed by Oakland, Ca native Regina Y. Evans. Ms Evans is a Poet, Storyteller, and a Published Author.
