Shining a Light on Poverty
Shining a Light on Poverty will draw attention to the issue of poverty in our community. Through art, light and words, this event is intended to help the community visualize the people who struggle for their basic necessities of food, shelter, hygiene, safety, physical and mental health, and employment are experiencing.
Shining a Light on Poverty will be held in Prescott College's Crossroads Center. A perfect setting, since Prescott College is another change-maker in our community around issues of social justice. The college's Institute for Sustainable Social Change is one of the sponsors for the event.
We will be shining lights on poverty through the lighting of candles for those in our lives who have struggled with poverty, who are still struggling with poverty, and those who are making a difference in combatting poverty.
In addition, there will be a juried art show, featuring works that help Shine a Light on Poverty. Some of the pieces will be raffled off that evening. Entertainment by Not2Shabby.
Other sponsors include The Frame & I and Precision Utility Locating, LLC.
The $25/person ticket price includes the event, entertainment, light appetizers and desserts, one glass of wine, and one raffle ticket for the art pieces.
