Ukulele Workshop & Concert with Stuart Fuchs
Johnny Cash was one of the most influential American songwriters of the last century. Often remembered as a country music icon, his music and poetry embraces blues, gospel, cowboy ballads, rock n' roll and railroad songs. In this fun workshop we'll play & sing many of Cash's most celebrated songs in addition to lesser known "deep cuts". You'll learn country & blues rhythm accompaniment patterns while playing Cash's songs. In addition we'll learn the cool & tawngy lead lines of his guitarist Luther Perkins that characterized Johnny Cash's classic Sun Records sound. This workshop is open to ALL LEVELS of player!
The workshop will be followed by a solo concert by Stuart (although there may be a guest as well as a finale with everyone playing along!). Stu's concerts are a blend of virtuosic instrumental ukulele music, soulful songs, mystical poetry, and few other surprises. A lifetime of musical experience shines through in his ukulele playing and is influenced by classical guitar, healing arts, musical theater, rock, and the gypsy jazz music of Django Reinhardt's music.
Stuart visited Penny Lane last year & it was a great time for all. He's looking forward to returning!
