Rova:Arts presents inkBoat and Rova in a special collaborative "workshop performance" a beginning stage for a new collaboration that will culminate summer 2015 when Shinichi Iova-Koga/inkBoat and Dancers' Group ONSITE present 95 RITUALS (see: www.95rituals.org ). This February show will be the insider's chance to see these two supreme Bay Area groups as they launch into the process of creativity; a chance to see 7 artists - all steeped in the 21st century discipline called "structured improvisation" as they come to grips with exciting concepts and ideas for the first time in pieces composed by John Zorn and Rova. That "first time" can often be the most explosive and exciting period, full of possibility and discovery.
Join us for this exciting adventure. Seats are very limited at Joe Goode Annex. There are only 46 seats per performance. Thus we encourage you to buy tickets as soon as possible for this show on February 21, 2015.
Rova and inkBoat have collaborated on set works such as "Glass Head" (2006) as well as playing in the liminal space of improvisation. Not knowing the next move allows each of us the opportunity to absorb and respond to the moments as they happen, not according to the ideas in our heads, but to the situation that reveals itself." An annual and always-evolving collaborative piece situated at Hyde Street Pier entitled Vessels of Improvisation, and produced by We Players - will have its third iteration in October 2015.

The musicians: Bruce Ackley, Steve Adams, Larry Ochs, Jon Raskin. Rova is one of the longest-standing groups in the music movement that has its roots in post-bop, free jazz, avant-rock, and 20th century new music. Rova draws inspiration from the visual arts, contemporary poetry, contemporary dance. And then there is the blues; always a big key.
