Nadav Lev and Friends: a Voyage Though Time and Timber
Nadav presents, side by side, new music written for him by young cutting edge composers, along with music from the core of the classical repertoire. The show explores different aspects of sound, color and time, incorporating both improvised and written-through music, while using classical as well as electrical instruments and live electronics. Music by composers Guy Barash, Ronnie Reshef, Joaquin Rodrigo, Manuel de Falla, Benjamin Britten and others. A 2006 Andrés Segovia Award winner (Música en Compostela, Spain), Israeli guitarist Nadav Lev was hailed by Classical Guitar magazine as "a talented and engagingly musical performer ... his stage presence is entirely gracious and personable." His 2008 Carnegie Hall debut was described as a "sensitive and nuanced performance" and his debut album "a CD to savour and delight in. His playing is of the utmost authority ... a sheer delight." Lev performs throughout the US, Israel and Europe, in venues such as Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall, with an extraordinary variety of styles and forms from classical to rock to jazz and improvised music. He appears frequently on media and is an active composer. Lev is the only guitarist in recent years to have won the America Israel Cultural Foundation prestigious Abroad Studies award, as well as numerous prizes such as Rodrigo Award (Jerusalem Guitar Competition) and Artists International, to name a few.
