Ancora presents Incantations
This celebration of spells will be an All Hallows Eve delight in the most fitting locale! A city of Seattle Landmark owned and operated by Historic Seattle, this concert site has a history all its own (check into it at http://www.historicseattle.org/projects/gsc.aspx) and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The repertoire, carefully selected by director Tess Orozco, is simultaneously spooky and spiritual. The choir takes on the likes of Giuseppe Verdi's MacBeth Witches Chorus, Franz Schubert's Erlking and Double Trouble from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by American cinematic composer John Williams.
Ancora is a women's vocal ensemble. They are a bunch of ex-choir geeks who never grew out of it. Ancora strives to take the boring out of women's ensemble music, escort your ears on an awesome journey and basically kick some vocal booty! The group is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the improvement and on-going development of vocal talents and music education, and the continued commitment to musical excellence. Ancora builds and maintains friendships and support among singers; performs outstanding choral music through a challenging program of rehearsals and concerts, and enriches the arts community by sharing exquisite music for women's voices with the public.
