Sometimes My Former Self Frightens Me: A Comedy in Two Lives
Kelli Dunham will be performing Freak of Nurture, her one-boi stand-up comedy show. Drag queen? Lance Bass look alike? 12 year old boy? Skateboarding ex nun Kelli Dunham weaves comical tales of mistaken identities and the complicated intersections between the queer and straight world. Her material includes everything from riffs on her childhood ("I grew up in rural Wisconsin, but my parents named me Kelli Sue: proof positive that if you go far enough into the Midwest, you're actually in the south.") to tales of her frequent language mishaps while working at an elementary school in Port-au-Prince, Haiti ("you know you're in deep doo-doo when you pronounce the word for 'listen' and the word 'spit' exactly the same.")Thanks to her fuzzy crew cut and cuddly disposition, Kelli is known as the 'koala bear comic,' yet her comedy joyfully tackles subjects usually reserved for drama and slam poetry.
Cheryl B will be performing: When I Knew Everyone At Avenue A, a personal, irreverent take on New York City in the 1990s. In this humorous one-woman spoken word/storytelling presentation, Cheryl offers up bits of her twenty-something existence; logic-defying relationships, sexual bewilderment, the death of her father, high doses of self-medication and ultimately, sobriety. While in the background, some of her beloved NYC haunts fade into relics.
BIOS: Fresh Fruit Award winning stand up comic Kelli Dunham has been featured on Showtime's Penn & Teller Bullshit, the Discovery Channel, and at colleges, coffeehouses, prides, women's festivals and even the occasional livestock auction. She is always traveling everywhere and never quite certain where she's left her underwear. She has two comedy CDs to her credit: "I am NOT a 12 Year Old Boy" and "Almost Pretty" both of them on regular rotation on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio's Rawdog Station. kellidunham.com
