Beerfly Alleyfight
To celebrate the 1st Annual Chicago Craft Beer Week and American Craft Beer Week, The Drinking & Writing Brewery will hold its Fourth Annual Beerfly Alleyfight Saturday, May 22 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Rock Bottom Brewery in Chicago. The Beerfly Alleyfight is a pairing of homebrewed beer, home-cooked food, and homegrown art. The Beerfly Alleyfight competition goes one step further than other pairings by adding an artist to the mix. Tickets to the Beerfly Alleyfight are $30.00 online at www.drinkingandwriting.com or $35.00 at the door if available. Each beer and food pair will be matched with a Chicago artist who will interpret the pair as they see fitan interpretive jazz dance to go with a wheat beer and peanut butter and jelly sandwichjust for example, of course. Throughout the day, the artists will present their pieces in the Beerfly Alleyfight boxing ring. Some of the artists included this year are last years Best in Show winner Neo-Futurist Eliza Burmester and fellow company member Phil Ridarelli; BoyGirlBoyGirl ensemble member David Kodeski; musician John Szymanski; Laura Grey and Laura McKenzie from Laura on Laura; and puppeteers Dan Kerr-Hobert and Bernie McGovern. Prizes are awarded for best beer, best food, best artistic interpretation, and best overall pairing.
