HOW NOT TO DIE
Duck and cover! Bert the Turtle, Borax, and your basement can save your life!
HOW NOT TO DIE is a dark comedy about living in constant fear and crisis. Whether it's a lone shooter in a classroom, a terrorist in an airport, the Ebola outbreak, or nuclear war - threats are everywhere! In this interactive solo show, writer/performer Sherri Rose travels back and forth from the 1960's to today exploring how we try to protect ourselves from these threats and how that impacts the way we live. Are the things we do to feel safe actually making us any safer?
Full of crazy - and not so crazy - safety tips, HOW NOT TO DIE humorously explores fear through a mix of true stories and fictional characters, including a 10-year old girl and her mother in 1961, a young Marine in Afghanistan, and classroom precautions following the Sandy Hook school shooting.
HOW NOT TO DIE is playful, poignant, personal, and political. It begs the question: How do we balance staying alive and truly living?
