Brian Copeland's "NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN" (Benefit for Los Altos High School)
Los Altos High School in association with CaroLena Productions Presents NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN
Written and performed by Brian Copeland Developed by David Ford and Brian Copeland Directed by David Ford
Returning to Los Altos High School following his exciting presentation as featured speaker for the 25th anniversary of Writers Week, Brian Copeland will perform his nationally acclaimed one-man show "NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN" as a benefit for the LAHS PTSA.
The show tells Brian Copeland's story of growing up in the racially segregated Bay Area town of San Leandro during the 1970s. Combining autobiographical stories, history lessons and personal reflections with Copeland's incredible skills as an actor and comedian, the one-man show has thrilled sold-out audiences across the country. Copeland performs characters including his grandmother, his sisters, a lawyer, police officers, the family's landlord and of course himself as a child, teenager and adult. The play is comedic and tragic, entertaining and profound. It does contain mature subject matter that may not be appropriate for children under 14.
