Tea at Five
Witness the fiery spirit of LA Ovation Award nominee Cissy Conner as Katharine Hepburn in this riveting one-woman play by Matthew Lombardo. An emotional journey from a well-heeled Yankee childhood to the winner of 4 Oscars, Tea at Five is based on Hepburn's 1991 New York Times, #1 Best-Selling book - Me: Stories of My Life.
Act I: (Circa. 1938) finds 31-year-old Kate in full retreat at her family's beach estate in Connecticut. Branded Box Office Poison after a string of movie flops, she nurses her psychic wounds and awaits the decision on whether she will get the coveted role of Scarlet O'Hara. She reflects on the dizzying heights and emotional lows of her upbringing and her adventures in show business.
Act II: Takes place in 1983, after the 76-year-old actress was injured in a car crash. The accident affords the now-legendary star an opportunity to reflect on the triumphs of her career and her heart-breaking romance with Spencer Tracy.
Quote: (Timeless) When you're out there and immersed in the magic, and the lights are shining, and the cameras are rolling, and your bank account is growing -- you think it will never end. But it does. And when you fall? You fall harder than those who never had a taste of what you had. Katharine Hepburn
