You're Looking at Country
Be a witness to a night of gut-toting con men, blood-soaked murder ballads and goose bump-inducing live music. For our 4th annual country program, Greg Vandy of KEXP's The Roadhouse and American Standard Time will host a jailhouse tour of desperate and dangerous men. The evening's lineup will include a surprise guest performance, forgotten footage of vintage country performers singing tales of murder, mischief and untimely death, and a rare screening of Five Minutes to Live, starring the Man in Black, Johnny Cash. Frosty beverages will be served. Screens with Five Minutes to Live
The insistent tick of the clock lays down the beat for this ballad of Johnny Cabot (Johnny Cash), a guitar-strumming, cold-hearted killer out on the lam after a bloody shoot out with the cops. Chafed by the highly regimented suburban life he sees outside his hotel hideaway,
Cabot gives a bank manager just five minutes to hand over 70 grand or his wife will be executed. Cash turns in an intense and unforgettable performance as the sociopath who toys with the bank manager's wife as she contorts in his cross hairs.
Tickets are $9 for general, $6/Film Forum members and $6.50/seniors and students. Not suitable for young children!
