Gang Awareness 101
Description: This workshop will help service providers understand the culture of youth violence and provide insight into the different gangs residing in West Contra Costa County. Participants will also be provided with the basic information on how to identify youth who may be involved or are at risk of getting involved with gangs. Indicators include graffiti, hand signs, colors, tattoos and other monikers gangs use to identify themselves. About the Trainer: Founded in 2005 by Gonzalo Rucobo and Valerie Estrada, Bay Area Peacekeepers, Inc. (BAP) seeks to save lives by bringing hope and change to those that society has discarded and that have been negatively impacted by gangs and neighborhood violence. BAP provides a variety of services in San Pablo and Greater Richmond area such as street outreach, mediation, life skills, family intervention and care management.
